Bruno Mars Rewrites Billboard History: “I Just Might” Sets All-Time R&B/Hip-Hop Chart Record

ASN NEWS USA — SPECIAL REPORT

LOS ANGELES (ASN NEWS USA)— Bruno Mars just did what no artist has done in nearly seven decades. His smash single “I Just Might” has returned to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for a record-breaking 32nd week — the longest run at the top in the chart’s 68-year history, dating back to October 1958.

The retro-kissed anthem reclaimed the summit on the chart dated October 24, breaking past the 31-week benchmark set by Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Luther.” For the tracking week of October 9–15, “I Just Might” pulled 5.3 million official streams, reached an airplay audience of 51.9 million, and kept moving units — according to Luminate.

Released in January as the lead single from Mars’ fourth solo studio album, The Romantic, the track debuted atop the Hot 100, giving the hitmaker his tenth chart-topper and his first No. 1 debut on that tally. The Romantic became his first project to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

The run was interrupted only twice — both by Drake collaborations — but Mars keeps coming back. While the superstar commands stadiums on his mammoth world tour, his romantic era just became a history-making one.
