DETROIT (ASN NEWS USA)— Hip-hop and country just collided again — and the internet can’t stop arguing about it.

Eminem is finally addressing the backlash over his guest verse on Kid Rock’s new album, *Halfway 2 Jesus*. The Detroit rapper appears on the track “Heal My Faith,” and fans immediately started questioning how hip-hop’s most famous Trump critic ended up riding with one of MAGA’s loudest voices.

Em took it straight to social media to clear it up: “Not about choosing sides, just choosing to make music with my old friend. Praying for all of us.”

Kid Rock backed that up in a new Billboard interview, saying the two have been friends for 40 years. “I really didn’t want to drag him into my political world,” Rock said. He also revealed Em was supposed to appear on two tracks — but they decided one was enough. “People are going to think we’re dating,” he joked.

This isn’t their first collaboration: Eminem appeared on Kid Rock’s “F-ck Off” from *Devil Without a Cause*, Kid Rock showed up in Em’s 2013 “Berzerk” video, and both were on Trick Trick’s “From the D” remix.

It’s a stunning contrast for fans who remember Eminem’s 2017 BET Hip-Hop Awards freestyle, where he went after the president directly. But the message out of Detroit this week is simple: friendship over politics.
