LOS ANGELES (ASN NEWS USA)— Cardi B and Kehlani are taking home the Moon Person. The duo won Best Hip-Hop Video at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards for their collaboration “Safe,” capping a night that belonged to the culture’s biggest night of the year.

The awards went down Sunday night, September 27, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg hosting the ceremony. Snoop’s return to the VMAs stage as host was a full-circle moment — his relationship with the show stretches back to his main stage debut in 1994.

The Best Hip-Hop category was stacked. “Safe” beat out videos from Drake, Don Toliver, Megan Thee Stallion, Travis Scott, and Tyler, the Creator — a lineup that showed just how many different sounds and visual styles live under the hip-hop umbrella right now.

The win puts a Cardi B and Kehlani collaboration at the center of the conversation, and it puts two women at the top of a category in a year where the ladies keep proving they run this rap thing.
