LOS ANGELES (ASN NEWS USA) — The MTV Video Music Awards are coming home to the West Coast — and the Doggfather is running the show.

Hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg will host the 2026 VMAs live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 27, marking the first time in nine years the ceremony leaves New York and New Jersey. The show airs simultaneously on CBS, MTV and Paramount+.

“MTV and the VMAs have been part of my story since the beginning,” Snoop said in a statement. “They gave hip-hop a place to be loud, fearless and seen by the whole world. So to come back now and host the VMAs, all these years later, that’s a full-circle moment for me.”

Madonna leads the night with 11 nominations, including Video of the Year for “Confessions II — The Film,” Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for “Bring Your Love.” She also opens the show — her first VMA performance in 23 years. Taylor Swift follows with nine nominations and will receive the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honors.

Nirvana will receive the Video Vanguard Award, and Raye, Teddy Swims and Sombr will perform a special tribute to George Michael. Kacey Musgraves will pay tribute to Dolly Parton.
