Voters cast ballots at a polling station for the 2026 midterm elections

More Than 32 Million Ballots Already Cast as 2026 Midterms Head to the Finish Line

ASN NEWS USA — SPECIAL REPORT

WASHINGTON (ASN NEWS USA)— America is already voting. With Election Day set for Tuesday, November 3, more than 32 million ballots had already been cast by late October through early in-person and mail voting, according to data compiled from state reports.

The numbers tell the story of a country locked in. Republicans currently hold a razor-thin 218–214 majority in the House of Representatives, leaving Democrats needing a net gain of just three seats to reclaim control. All 435 House seats are on the ballot. In the Senate, Republicans hold a 53–47 advantage with 35 seats being contested, including special elections in Ohio and Florida.

Governors’ mansions are also in play across 36 states, and voters in 39 states will weigh 145 statewide ballot measures addressing everything from election security to civil rights.

Early voting has surged in key battleground states compared with the 2022 midterms, with Texas and California reporting among the largest early totals. But experts urge caution: early-vote totals show how many ballots have been cast, not who those voters supported, and early voting is often a poor predictor of final results.

The outcome will determine the political balance of the 120th Congress and how much legislative influence President Donald Trump retains during the remaining two years of his presidency.

Four days out, the message is simple: if you have not voted yet, make your plan — and make your voice count.
