Honors Season Belongs to the Culture: Wu-Tang Enters the Rock Hall as Soul Train Rides Again

ASN NEWS USA — SPECIAL REPORT

LOS ANGELES (ASN NEWS USA)— The culture is about to have its biggest honors season in years. On November 14, Wu-Tang Clan will officially take its place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and two weeks later, the Soul Train Awards roll back onto the main stage — this time on network television.

Wu-Tang Clan enters the Hall in the Performer Category as first-ballot inductees, alongside Sade, Luther Vandross, Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, and Oasis. Nine living members — RZA, GZA, Method Man, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, and Cappadonna — will be honored, along with the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard, who died in 2004. The ceremony goes down at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with the TV special airing in December on ABC and Disney+.

The culture’s queens are getting their flowers too. Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Fela Kuti, Celia Cruz, and Gram Parsons will receive the Hall’s Early Influence Award — two of hip-hop’s founding women honored forever in the same class.

And the party doesn’t stop there. The Soul Train Awards return Friday, November 27, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BET and — for the first time ever — CBS. With the BET Hip Hop Awards still suspended, Soul Train is carrying the full weight of the season.

Circle October 23 as well: new albums from Anderson .Paak and Cordae arrive the same day, alongside John Legend’s Pharrell-produced Muse.

From Shaolin to the Hall of Fame, the culture keeps winning. Stay tuned to ASN News USA for continuing coverage of honors season. Reported by ASN News USA. Visit asnnewsusa.com or follow @ASNNewsUSA for updates. ASN NEWS USA: Real News. Real Voices. Real Change.
