NASHVILLE (ASN NEWS USA)— Independent Christian hip-hop collective indie tribe just proved you don’t need the machine to win the machine’s biggest prize.
Their hit track “ROB HELL,” featuring nobigdyl., Torey D’Shaun, and Jon Keith, took home Rap/Hip Hop Recorded Song of the Year at the 57th Annual GMA Dove Awards in Nashville — a milestone for artists who have stayed proudly independent.
“No label, no machine! Just JESUS, genuine relationships, the people believing us, and THE TRIBE!” the group shared after the win. They thanked producer Carvello, engineers Mixed by AC and Last LVL Mastering, and director Cobe Grandstaff for the song’s visual.
The win beat a stacked nominee slate, including Lecrae, Hulvey, and KB. And the night belonged to the independent lane: Reach Records artist Hulvey also won Rap/Hip Hop Album of the Year for COULD BE TONIGHT — his fourth career Dove Award — while Josiah Queen’s “Dusty Bibles” took the overall Song of the Year honor.
The message is loud and clear: faith-driven hip-hop is having a moment, and it’s doing it its own way.
