NEW YORK (ASN NEWS USA)— Donald Trump’s war on the press just blew up in his face — on the world stage.

Last Friday, the president announced on Truth Social that he was banning CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House, stripping their reporters of press badges over what he called “FAKE NEWS.” By Monday, all three outlets had hit back with a federal First Amendment lawsuit, calling the ban a “blatant violation of our most fundamental constitutional principles.”

Then came Tuesday. At the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Trump spotted CNN’s Kaitlan Collins in the press scrum and snapped: “I’m surprised that CNN is here covering me. You shouldn’t be here!”

Her reply said it all: “The United Nations allowed us in, sir.”

That’s the problem with trying to silence the press — you only control your own house. The UN credentialed CNN itself, and there Trump was, on camera, taking a tough question about the Iran war from the very reporter he tried to ban.

The lawsuit is still pending. But the footage from the UN already told the story: the ban didn’t quiet the media. It made them the headline.
